SWEDISH MASSAGE

Long flowing strokes to promote circulation and relaxation. This is a soothing style and light pressure is used. Usually done with flat hands and not a lot of detailed work in most areas.

DEEP TISSUE

Designed to break up knots and tense areas. Often done with thumbs or elbows. Deepest pressure is used here. I always incorporate Trigger Point into deep tissue massage. The body needs time to understand what I am asking of it, and to respond and release the tension. People with a lot of tension and who do not get regular body work may experience some nausea or soreness after a deep session, however the more regular massage is received, as well as drinking plenty of water afterwards, the less these symptoms are an issue.

PRENATAL MASSAGE

Soothing style usually done mostly side-lying, depending on how far along in pregnancy the client is. Always being mindful of areas to be avoided during pregnancy, and extra attention given to head and feet.

REFLEXOLOGY

Using pressure on specific areas of the feet and hands, with the goal of relieving a variety of problems and balancing the flow of vital energy throughout the body. We have over 7200 nerve endings in the feet alone. Based on the theory that reflex points are linked to various organs and parts of the body, stimulation of these points is thought to affect the connected organ or body part. Some people report tingling sensations in corresponding areas of the bodywhile the reflex points are being touched. It has been shown to promote relaxation and reduce pain and anxiety in many people including decreased nausea and vomiting when undergoing chemo or radiation therapy, a welcome relief to the oncology patient who suffers. Having a significant and immediate effect on pain and often reducing the need for pain medication, reflexology can be a safe, non-invasive alternative to prescription pain medication.

THAI YOGA MASSAGE

Done fully clothed, in loose comfortable clothing, on a thick mat on the floor. Using thumbs, palms, elbows, knees, and feet, I use a combination of acupressure, gentle rocking and twisting, joint and spine mobilizations, and assisted yoga stretches.

Using body weight instead of strength, the goal is to open up joint capsules, perform compression sets on larger muscle groups, and ultimately stretch you beyond your own normal range of motion. This is the point where you receive the most benefit from stretching.

Raindrop Therapy

Raindrop therapy involves powerful essential oils combined with a variety of massage techniques and heat. This bodywork is designed to boost the immune system, assist the body of detoxing from viral and bacterial activity, and to stimulate the nervous system.

Oils used and why...

• Aroma seize...calming,relaxing, eases tension
• Wintergreen...cortizone-like effect, analgesic properties
• Cypress...supports circulatory and lymphatic systems
• Valor...supports lymbic system

• Basil...relaxes both voluntary and involuntary muscles
• Thyme...antiseptic, supports bodies natural defenses
• Oregano...anti-microbial,cleanses cellular receptor sites
• Marjoram...soothing to nerves, used for migraines
• Peppermint...improves concentration and mental activity supports digestive system and detoxes the liver

Oils are applied down the length of the spine, followed by an application of moist heat. While that sets, oils are applied to the lower legs and feet, and eventually the scalp. Specific massage style is used to import the oils to absorb as the nervous and energetic systems are stimulated.
With some people, the oils may cause temporary reddening and warming of the skin, but this can be relieved quickly and the benefits of this therapy can be well worth it.

Chair Massage

Chair massage is a style of massage that is performed in a special chair that allows the client to lean forward while fully supported. It is done with the client fully clothed. A session is generally timed at 5-15 minutes, with most attention given to neck, back, shoulders, arms and hands.
A chair massage therapist is often hired by companies to be a part of ongoing heath and wellness programs for their employees.
Chair massage is also something fun and unexpected to have at a private party or event.
